1. The axis core#
NotebookLM is "a customizable RAG product for end users" that turns traditional note-taking into an intelligent AI-driven workflow. Distinguishing factor: the language model is explicitly grounded in the user's own sources, creating a "personalized AI" expert in user-relevant material. While Claude Projects provides a 200K-token window, NotebookLM uses Gemini 1.5 Pro's up to 1.5M-word context (25M with tricks) — enabling deep, simultaneous, chunk-free understanding of entire corpora.
